Talk: The Alexander Technique and Pain
Tuesday, October 22, 2019 @ 20:30 - 22:00Booking required - € 5
The subject of the talk
The Alexander Technique is primarily an educational process. A self-help method. Its principles though can be applied to overcoming any difficulty within the range of one’s awareness.
Pain, beyond the medical diagnosis and treatments available, needs also a right attitude and correct conscious reactions in order to prevent unnecessary tightenings. Instinctive reactions to pain lead easily to harmful habits. Learning to prevent them and replacing them by conscious reactions in order to improve one’s coordination and functioning creates a healthier framework to deal with pain.
Hands on experience
An opportunity to experience the Alexander Technique hands on approach for improving coordination and use of oneself.
The Alexander Technique touch is a very subtle contact which helps improve poise and self-perception, and allows initiation of new or improved reactions and movements.
